Strenergy extend is the home energy harvesting, gamified workout solution. Through charging smart phones through use, users are able to engage in the challenges of powering modern life via in-app biometric data. The gamification of exercise encourages a long-term uptake of physical activity, reducing public health issues and communicating the challenges of powering modern life. Strenergy adopts gameful affordances to communicate our energy crisis to users. The cable machine inspired product uses MagSafe induction charging to securely mount the phone to the product, creating a user-specific interface. The wall-mounted product enables a versatile range of workout motions and was developed for the sake of the final major project. Long-term, the brand would look to develop a range of app-compatible, energy harvesting workout equipment for home and commercial gym use. Strenergy extend is capable of harvesting approximately 47W of electrical energy per repetition, assuming a system efficiency of 64%, and 100Wh across the course of a workout comprised of four exercises (each consisting of 4 sets of ten repetitions). This energy harvested will depend proportionally with the user’s ability.
