My final major project is inspired by the sort of fashion that I have been exposed to since I was born. I took a look at the actual closet that my Eastern European family stores their clothes in, alongside all the things that are not in season, or too bad to use, but too good to throw away- random tablecloths, roller skates, winter coats, children clothes, my graduation dress, some headscarves from when we were going to church as kids ... All these things together create quite an eclectic collection with an Eastern European spirit, that I was ashamed of as a kid, because it was so out of touch with the trends of the time. Now I find them fascinating, unique and meaningful. I tried to replicate the energy with this collection, while using second hand and deadstock materials in the process.
