About:

I am a passionate, driven and self-motivated individual. I have currently just finished my final year at De Montfort University studying a BA hons in fashion design. I am creative and hard working. One of my key skills and motivations is in finding new innovative silhouettes with a mixture of tailoring and drape.

LOOKBOOK - F.A.D PROJECT, FINAL MAJOR, FDC.

The brief this year is to design and produce one garment inspired by the fashion and times of the 1920's to 1939; the prize is to be up for a chance to be part of a showcase in New York City next year. “Most stylish outfit” http://www.fashionculte.co.uk/?p=54626

Drapery and creating organic silhouettes have always been an interest to me. I recognise that draping dates back with experts such as Madeleine Vionnet and her Bias cut techniques on the body through to modern pattern cutters such as Julian Roberts. I have previously experimented with different fabrics manipulating them on the stand. For my final major project I wanted to carry on experimenting with different fabrics, stretch to woven, seeing how this manipulates the drape but also seeing how the body manipulates the fabrics too with shape and movement. I have always been keen on how the engineering of the body works.

F.A.D competition 2015: Physics meets fashion. A streetwear collection responding to the physics of sound. Influenced by the aesthetics of hip hop culture and beatboxing, looking to spectrograms and sound waves to create original prints. Shortlisted from over 100 student entries nationwide across 40 universities, the 2015 FAD winners and finalists represent the freshest talent set to graduate from UK universities this summer. Their entries were judged by a panel of industry experts including Geraldine Cox, Physics Artist in Residence at Imperial College; Professor Clare Johnston, Head of Textiles at the RCA and Tamsin Blanchard, Fashion Features Director at the Telegraph Magazine. 'Francesca of De Montfort University used an intricate dying technique on denim to recreate colour spectrums seen in soundwaves. She teamed this with creative pattern cutting skills, moving the garment structure around the body to produce her edgy streetwear collection.'

With this Capsule collection I looked into The elderly and youth mixing up the different styles. Looking at recent street-wear to see what people are currently wearing but also looking back into fashion.
