About:
I am an Applied Arts graduate that specialises in textiles. I have always been fascinated with photographing flowers and plants and I use all my own original photos to create beautiful images. I manipulate these with a combination of the traditional, embroidery, and the modern, Photoshop, to create prints and textile art.
I am interested in colour, form and texture. I like to work with luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet and linen. Most of my designs are then further embellished after printing to give a bespoke piece.

For this project, I looked at the fascination the English have with their gardens and how this infiltrates textile design. I took photos of flowers and plants in gardens and hot houses that are open to the public, including National Trust properties. I then worked on my photos to create artwork and print designs. I stitched into the first prints to give them added detail and dimension and then re-printed the fabric with this added embellishment. All the velvet cushions and linen lampshades were then further embroidered or beaded by hand. The silk scarves are hand hemmed. I like to take full ownership of my work and so I make everything myself.
