‘Layer. Stack. Wrap.’ Has evolved from a full-bodied collection of research taken from salvage yards in and around Glasgow, an industry which celebrates the beauty of discarded objects through restoration. A 'Trash to Treasure' process. Inspired by the elaborate miscellany and intricate tactility of these locations this collection has been driven by material curiosity. With a focus on predominantly hand embroidered processes I have created an extensive collection of multi-layered designs featuring a juxtaposition of bold form interlaced with intricate colour and material detail. The use of discarded material has been central to my design process and I have incorporated flaws into my collection, allowing the viewer to appreciate the beauty of imperfection. Through a bold use of scale and material combination I have created a set of highly adaptable designs allowing them to be flexible in their context. This collection is intended for fashion and interior purposes. Considering responsible design, this collection has been created using only sustainably sourced materials including discarded factory leather offcuts, wooden remnants, found objects and pre-loved jewellery. Incorporating a zero-waste methodology to my design process has been crucial in capturing the core of the projects starting point.

‘Footwear Concepts’ is focused around bold and energetic shoe concept design with a focus on abstract and trend-led trainer design. Through research into conceptual shoe design, I have enjoyed creating abstract silhouettes and challenging the adaptability of footwear. Colour and material curiosity have become the main focus of this project and the use of leather and wood has allowed for flexibility as well as durability. The project has been completely responsible through the use of leather offcuts and found materials. The final concept design features a reworked trainer to combine decorative embroidery techniques with functional detailing.

Inspired by the repetitive form and structure found in the environment surrounding me, I set out to create a collection of bold, statement textiles for fashion. By using only waste material, my sampling technique was driven by textural quality and material manipulation. I enjoyed experimenting with different ways to connect my designs which inspired the collage-like final garment collection I created.

An experimental project with a clear focus on drawing and colour analysis. Looking at the details found in surrounding architecture, I have created a collection that combines material and colour curiosity. My final collection of embroidered trims are created from scrap leather and rope and combine both hand and domestic embroidery. These are interchangeable pieces that can be used as a collection or on their own in a variety of contexts.
