Design Indaba 2020 is a month away! ARTS THREAD will return to Cape Town to meet this year's Emerging Creatives who will be showcasing their latest designs. We preview some of the furniture and interior designers taking part.

Fazlin Hoosain will show her upcycled piece from her brands Collectic Interiors and Collectic Living. Siyanda Magaba also focuses on environmentally friendly approaches to designing furniture while Lethabo Cleo Moraka uses her interest in fashion to change the way women use and interact with homeware products.

Furniture designer Dane Edward Fair creates minimalist designers. His newly launched brand, Aisling, consists of a variety of pieces including bedside and coffee tables. Kehumile Mate was raised in Mabopane, a township in Pretoria, and is founder of bespoke interior and furniture design company Mitsotso. Mate draws on his experiences as a fine artist and self-taught photographer when designing interiors and furniture.

Sipho Khwebula is founder of Khwebula Arts, a furniture design brand that draws influence from African heritage. Interior and furniture designer Anele Vezi of Vezzara Designs will also be showing work inspired by African contemporary art.

Marcus van der Hoven (Takk Furniture) uses furniture to create spatial interventions. Cape Town designer, engineer and artist Andrew Earl will present to visitors examples of his installation and product pieces that blend spatial analysis, urban design and human-computer interactions. Also taking part in Emerging Creatives 2020 is furniture designer Mia Louise Senekal, founder of the murrmurr furniture design company, and homeware designer Tanisha Neill.
