About
Hello! I’m Nina— a multidisciplinary designer passionate about storytelling, sharing ideas, and social justice, currently based in Los Angeles, California. I often incorporating hand-driven, thoughtful elements within my design work, and have a particularly soft spot in my heart for all kinds of printed matter. Much of my academic and personal design portfolio interrogates the role of socio-political disparities, especially those of race, class, and gender, and the implication of those normative inequities on art and design history. I'm continually interested in how the histories and stories we're told are formulated; how the perception of ourselves, our communities and the world at large are written— who gets marked as 'worthy' of documentation, and who gets to do the documenting.I am currently working as a Graphic Designer with Boston-based integrated advertising and design agency, Colossus Creative Co. I also continue to pursue freelance design work with local non-profit organizations, small businesses and other creative professionals based in LA and beyond. Previously, I worked as a Production Designer on the Ecommerce Design Team at CB2 | Crate & Barrel, before which I worked as Graphic Designer and Junior Art Director at independent canned cocktail company, Ohza from 2021–2022.
This project retells the story of the Bauhaus to highlight female contributions that have been institutionally overlooked in design history. The final project was printed as a risograph book that illustrates the underrepresented voices of the Bauhaus, and their legacies as designers. The content of this book emphasizes the lives, teachings and creative practices of Gertrud Arndt, Marienne Brandt and Gunta Stolzl. Their personal biographies and contributions to the Bauhaus make up the majority of the written content, while miniature spreads are embedded within the book dedicated to displaying their respective works.
