The Future of Denim Branding by Avery Dennison RBIS aims to discover the most forward thinking student/graduate that is able to combine intelligent branding with design creativity to set a new standard in what the future holds for branding within the denim industry.
Prize: The winner will be invited for a paid internship to work with the Avery Dennison RBIS branding, innovation and creative teams to develop their designs and bring the branding to life, witnessing the designs evolve from artwork to samples to final product on a pair of jeans. The grand finale will take place at an industry event in June/July 2015 (TBC) showcasing the final products to denim experts from around the world.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Who can Enter
Entry to The Future of Denim Branding is open to any students in full time or part-time education on any art and design course or a recent graduate (must have graduated after May 2013), provided they are not currently employed by an apparel brand as a designer or within the creative team.
Entry is worldwide. Please note the paid internship is only eligible for those able to work in the UK (EU region) or USA. All applicants will still have the opportunity to become a finalist and showcase their designs at the industry event, even if they do not wish to take up the internship or are not eligible to work in the UK (EU region) or USA.

STEP A
Design the branding for fictitious brand 'Uniti Denim' on a typical 5 pocket jean. There are no limits or restrictions to your creativity, make the brand your own! Remember, we are looking for branding designs, not designs of the jeans themselves…
Research different types of denim branding to fully understand what is currently used within the market. You should use this to build your knowledge and understanding on what the consumer expects to see on a pair of jeans. Remember we are looking to what the future holds for the denim industry therefore you should be creative and innovative in your thinking of how to transform denim branding.
Key items to research and include in your submission include:

*Branded rivets, zippers and buttons are not relevant to the brief.

STEP B
Make the Uniti Denim brand your own and develop the branding to suit your target customer and price point. There are no restrictions as to what materials your designs will be made from however this will form part of the judging process. When uploading your design files please include a description of your branding including the materials you would use as well as your target customer and pricing information.
In order for your submission to be complete you must submit your research and designs with descriptions of the materials each design would use for both of the areas below:
- External Branding
- Internal Branding
After having uploaded your design files, please create a PDF file with a description of your branding, plus information on your target audience and price points.
JUDING CRITERIA - WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Judges will look for a unique concept on how to energize and reinvigorate branding within the denim industry. Combination of intelligent, well thought out branding, combined with creativity and forward thinking designs. Submissions will be judged according to the following:

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SUBMISISION
Once submitted, the designs will be evaluated by our expert judging panel to establish the top 10 finalists. Those fortunate enough to make it to the final round will be sent a pair of jeans to use as a template to apply their branding and designs to. The jeans will be blank and the finalists will be asked to get creative and bring their designs to life. Finalists should use any techniques and materials that they have access to in order to represent the original designs. Once complete, the jeans will be collected and the expert panel will judge the final garments and decide on the ultimate winner of the competition.
