UNKNOWN. In an industry collaboration with award-winning design agency, Campaign, students at Falmouth University have created UNKNOWN, where shoppers chip away at biodegradable foam walls to find boxes containing specially designed rings or pendants.

Particularly targeting millennials, who now make up one in every four adults and want experiences rather than things, UNKNOWN offers an immersive, real-world retail experience that’s readily Instagram-able.

There’s another unexpected element to the experience; as the structure is eroded, a bench is exposed, so encouraging human interaction and conversation.

not just a shop is UAL's pioneering enterprise learning and retail space. Based in High Holborn, it sells design products and artwork created exclusively by those who studied at UAL's six colleges.

Join talented designer-makers Tatty Devine, The London Refinery and James Barker for a series of special workshops at not just a shop this LDF. Look out for a special LDF window installation by Martina Paukova, a UAL graduate (who studied at both London College of Communication and Camberwell College of Arts). A selection of limited-edition products inspired by the window will also be available in store.

Alongside the jewellery designs of this year's graduating students the exhibition will also showcase the results of the British Academy of Jewellery's international project entitled "Valuing Amber". Through academic and practical research questioning the idea of value, participants explored what value is, how it is created, and why it matters. This investigation culminated in an international exhibition in China and a bilingual catalogue, before being on display during the London Design Festival.

A pioneering exhibition, showroom & platform delivering hand-picked, first-class Mexican Design Culture to London.

The exhibition will uncover the diverse talent in the creative design culture present in Mexico via the work of 20 designers and craftsmen and students and 200 recent book publications in architecture, art, design and craft.

OBSIDIAN - Anáhuac university

On show will be around 35 functional objects in Black Gold Sheen Obsidian. They were created in 2 workshops initiated by Ricardo Salas and Adrián Rosado, where students, graduates and designers from Anáhuac university (México City) collaborated with the skilled artisans from the state of Hidalgo that have been working with this material over generations.

SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN PROJECTS - CENTRO University

The items presented in this section share a common area of Design related to Social Responsibility. Thought-provoking projects that expand our abilities, that embolden and build community, and others that make the most of our limited resources.

Pellucidity and hue in relation to glass is the central theme around the exhibition Colors of Transparency from the Studio of Glass at UMPRUM. We see the latest works of students, who work with paint, disrupt classic design concepts and are not afraid to experiment. The objects are timeless, they cross the boundaries of traditional glassmaking and meddle between the fields of design and fine art. At the same time, it honors a high level of quality craftsmanship that is made possible in such world-class Czech glass workshops such as Rückl, Moser, and Bomma.

To accompany the launch of Milliken's Fine Detail carpet tile collection, featuring gold, silver and copper metallic yarns, design competition winners from prestigious ENSCI-Les Ateliers École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle will exhibit their work incorporating these metallic yarns. The student designers have complete scope to create an item or collection ranging from wall-hangings, soft furnishings and jewellery through to sculpture or fashion items.
