The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) takes place September 08 as part of CENTRESTAGE taking place September 05-08 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Since its inception in 2016, CENTRESTAGE has gained significant recognition from the fashion business world as a platform to discover promising Asian talents for worldwide markets. CENTRESTAGE is a unique launch pad and promotion platform dedicated to international, in particular Asia’s fashion brands and design labels. Last year the show played host to over 210 exhibiting brands from around the world, with some 8,500 buyers also in attendance from 73 countries and regions.

The YDC aims to cultivate and promote a new generation of fashion design talents for the local garment and fashion industry, whose ideas will further enhance the image of Hong Kong as a fashion design centre.

Today, Hong Kong has become a thriving hub for design and branded labels, and the role of the YDC in identifying talent is more pronounced than ever. The contest has become the most prestigious event of its kind in the region. Its success is evident by the number of past contestants who have gone on to become leading designers for fashion enterprises or launch their own labels.

VIP Judges

Inviting world-famous designers to sit on the YDC judging panel is a good way to create a meaningful learning platform for the contestants, as they get to meet with these judges in person and receive valuable advice.

In the past, Kenzo Takada, Ennio Capasa, Keita Maruyama, Andreas Kronthaler, Martine Sitbon, Atsuro Tayama, Veronique Leroy, Marc Ascoli, Margareta van den Bosch, Hiromichi Ochiai ang Mug have been invited to be the VIP Judge for YDC. This year, internationally renowned fashion designer Martine Rose will be the VIP judge.
