About

My name is Mariona Urgell Baiori, and I'm one of the 30 international semi-finalists of the Redress Design Award 2023. I'm currently finishing my bachelor's degree in Fashion Design at LCI Barcelona, Spain. My collection for the Redress Design Award, 'Otherness', centers around the devaluation of female beauty throughout history, combining both historical and contemporary fashion influences. To create a timeless aesthetic, I've used strips of denim offcuts, which I've woven together to form adjustable hems, making the garments wearable for years to come. Additionally, I've incorporated handmade fabric manipulations such as tie-dying and linoleum printing using water-based lacquers. In designing this collection, I've kept sustainability in mind, with garments that can easily be disassembled into their individual components for recycling.
