About

I often find myself needing to get lost in the scenery of what I see around me — that is to say I like to walk a lot. And I have a certain aptitude towards images taken in said scenery. My most current work concerns mainly the physical mediums, such as the photographic emulsion, print, and bookmaking. Film, I think, keeps a stronger connection with the subject, a sort of physical tether between the then and where, and the now and here. While book craft really calls for detail, each aspect having to be made by hand calls for deliberate planning and a clean workflow. I really love making things and making things work — the process itself being one of my passions. Working out the way things work and why they don't work is another. Documentary and journalistic photography is where I am heading towards.

Adventure of the Expedition

What constitutes an adventure? A pursuit of something new? Exploring the unknown? An escape from your current reality? The word ‘adventure’ is a chimera of meanings. It is so familiar, yet we cannot pin it down to a single definition that suits everyone. Why? Adventure is entirely subjective—tailored to each adventurer. Anyone can have one. An adventure happens when you least expect it. Your adventure can be anything; you just need to commit to something. It was purely by chance that I, Patrik, decided to embark on a photographic expedition to Clare Island with my dad and sister-in-law. What was meant to be a two-day hiking trip turned into a three-day, solitary photographic introspection about my future and my thoughts on life after college—culminating on St. Patrick’s Day, of all days. An expedition has a plan and a goal. An adventure is serendipity and good weather.
