About

A toy collector and enthusiast turned product design graduate with an interest in joining the toy design industry. Experienced in ideation, presentation, modelmaking and prototyping, research and bringing an idea into reality. Passionate about the experience of play, meeting the needs of different age groups and a toy’s existence in a digital world. Interested in sustainability and rethinking the making and consumption of products. With a collection of toys going back to my childhood and sometimes beyond, I have researched and become familiar with the design, materials and safety of products that ignites imagination.

Automobild

Specialisms:

Industrial Design

The goal of the final year Automobild project was to create a building system toy dedicated to vehicles and transportation that works to the strengths of the subject matter. It was also important to provide an engaging and interactive play experience that explores the many real-world functions of automobiles. The project started due to a passion for Car-themed toys and some of the limitations found with existing vehicle and construction toys. I wanted to create a new kind of play experience that improved on those issues. The base kit consists of a central chassis that contains electronic features that can activate lights and in attached parts. Wheel axles connect below, while body and interior details connect around the outside. The parts provided can be disassembled for the child to build and customise using the parts from other kits. The completed model can be pushed by hand on a flat surface. A free app would be connected wirelessly to the fully assembled car that further enhances the play experience by remotely controlling a variety of visual features including lights and sounds.
