About

After falling in love with Textiles at Gcse level I went on to take Textiles design and Photography for A-level. In Lockdown I was able to explore my own style of design and how to practice a practical subject away from the classroom, through social media I taught my self ceramics, upholstery and woodwork. I went on to study an art foundation in applied arts and volunteered in Arusha Tanzania, making reusable sanitary Pads for the local community. I always knew I wanted to study Textiles for a degree, but had not tried weaving before my first year. Since then, I am now confident in weaving from table looms to arm touch looms, and designing fabrics on Pointcarre software for TC2 and Jacquard weaving.

Hi, I’m Freya, a woven Textile designer with a huge passion for interiors, fabric, and homewares. My collection, Big Top Dreams, is a whimsical exploration of woven textiles that celebrates imagination, nostalgia, and timeless design. Inspired by the joyful chaos of the circus, it draws on the playful geometry of the Bauhaus movement, the spirit of commedia dell'arte, and the iconic harlequin character. This collection invites you into a world where vibrant patterns—stripes, spots, and stars—transform any space into something magical. Not defined by gender or trend the collection is designed to evoke a sense of connection, offering playful yet enduring pieces that are meant to be cherished for years. Infused with the spirit of childhood wonder, each fabric is crafted with a focus on emotional durability, sustainability, and practicality. Key to this collection is the use of lambswool, renowned for its exceptional softness, warmth, and natural resilience. The hypoallergenic, breathable and resistant properties of the yarn make it the perfect choice for sensitive skin and the inevitable stains of play. Designed for application in upholstery, window dressings and soft accessories, the collection offers bold designs and complementary stripes for a well-balanced room. More than just textiles, Big Top Dreams is an immersive journey. From hand weaving and Jacquard techniques to CAD and ceramics, the collection is the result of an extensive exploration of materials and processes. My goal is to create future heirlooms—pieces that evolve alongside a child, becoming part of their personal story and, perhaps one day, hopefully passed down to future generations. Designed to inspire creativity and foster emotional connections, Big Top Dreams is about more than aesthetic beauty; it’s a celebration of stories, memories, and bonds that last a lifetime.
