About
I am a final year BA student studying Fashion and Textiles design at BNU. I experiment with both traditional and digital design methods, combining the two to create innovative textiles. Specialising in print, I aim to design pieces that are both emotionally meaningful and environmentally conscious for fashion and interiors.
For this project, I explored how I could visualise the duality of my theme through figurative connotations - The Black and White Swan. To refine my contrast, I researched films that encapsulated the idea of both Chaos and Grace, offering rich colour palettes, fabric inspiration and detailed motifs that helped me shape my direction. Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 film Black Swan became a pivotal influence in refining the direction for my project. From this point, the concept of designing two contrasting garments to portray the White Swan and the Black Swan fully took form, envisioning each piece as an individual embodiment of its respective swan. For the White Swan, I focused on communicating softness through texture and delicacy; this approach captured the innocence, grace and fragility associated with the White Swan, in contrast to the Black Swan garment which was designed with a bold, structured silhouette emulating its dominating presence.
