About

Pattern, shape, texture and colour from the natural world are the main source of inspiration for my work as a woven textile designer. I enjoy looking at how aspects of nature can be brought into interiors through calming colour and interesting woven structures. Introducing the concept that 'nature is not a trend' also allows for longevity and sustainability in my work as it does not focus on a specific season but is instead transitional. Exploring new technical skills is another part of the design process I love, using different warp set ups to develop my ideas and broaden my knowledge of woven textiles. I have recently been awarded the De Montfort University Roadley Award for Supporting Innovation in Sustainability as well as the Worshipful Company of Dyers Award.

This project, explores the connection between people and nature, more specifically coastal landscapes. A positive colour palette of cool blues and neutral greens, balanced with warmer rusty, pink hues, brought directly from the natural world, creates a relaxing, yet optimistic collection. My collection is aimed at interiors with a focus on blankets for outdoor living spaces. Winning the DMU Roadley Award for supporting innovation in sustainability allowed me to source a range of different textured wool and Tencel yarns to create a more sustainable collection. I also hand dyed all my yarns in order to achieve a unique and accurate colour palette.
