I am a jeweller, designer and maker from Bedfordshire, currently living and working in Glasgow. I graduated this year from The Glasgow School of Art with a first-class BA Hons in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design. My method entails a meticulous, repetitive crafting process, akin to meditation, with each detail mindfully attended to.This deliberate practice instills an enduring quality within the act of creation, mirroring the ceaseless expedition of an afterlife; a concept I have explored that delves into the afterlife's significance within the human experience.

Where this project all began - exploring grief, a pencil drawing
Exploring compositions in metal of the tear drop and the torus motif
exploring compositions and how it changes the overall feeling of a piece
trying out fabric as a medium for the torus

Soft Torus' - It was at this pint i decided to move back into creating metal torus however used the detailed patterns and texture I could get from embriodery to inspire the designs of my final contemplating the afterlife collection
settling on a colour scheme - i liked the link back to Victorian and Edwardian mourning jewellery

My artistic exploration delves into the contemplation of the afterlife's significance within the human experience. I undertake inquiries that revolve around the intriguing possibility of our present existence being a continuation of a former life. The genesis of my artistic journey finds its roots in a jade ring-shaped object known as Bi, an ancient artefact from Chinese heritage that historically assisted departed souls on their passage to the afterlife. My perspective aligns the concept of an afterlife with the intricate fabric of time itself. Within this framework, numerous lifetimes pivot, concealed within the enigma of time. Evoking the essence of this philosophy, my collection embodies the torus' cyclic form, which symbolizes the perpetual cycle of death and rebirth that all material things undergo. Distinct narratives are etched into each torus, expressed through meticulous interplay of patterns and textures. My method entails a meticulous, repetitive crafting process, akin to meditation, with each detail mindfully attended to. This deliberate practice instils an enduring quality within the act of creation, mirroring the ongoing journey of an afterlife.
