About
Hannah Sy is a Chinese-Canadian animator based in Vancouver, Canada. She studied animation at Emily Carr University of Art + Design where she produced her festival running animated film, “Coastal Community Centre’s Fluffy Friend” (2024), as well as her newly created graduation film, “Cotton Clouds, Like Always” (2025). Hannah’s work is a mix of fun loving comedy and fantastical drama that aims to bring joy and entertainment to anyone whom it comes across.
COTTON CLOUDS, LIKE ALWAYS is Hannah Sy's anime inspired thesis film made from Emily Carr University of Art + Design's 2D animation program. With the use of Harmony Puppet Rigs and other Computer animation techniques, COTTON CLOUDS, LIKE ALWAYS is able to uniquely replicate Japanese anime stylization. However, as their day progresses, glitches start to appear, interactions become progressively unusual, and for some strange reason, no one seems to notice.
