About

My name is Rosie Mitchell, I am a passionate spatial narratives designer, with a deep-rooted love for blending research, history and design through storytelling to create tactile experiences that captivate and connect. I have further developed my interest in live experiential environments with a focus on story led design, at university and on live industry activations.Within spatial experience design I have developed my interests in coordinating and managing the events. By volunteering for working with the exhibition team for the graduate showcase at University of the Arts London.

Crafting Malton is a permanent installation project, centred around the heritage of the Roman fort in Orchard Field, a currently underrepresented heritage space in Malton the North of England. Through the installations, the project extracts the essence of Roman craft productivity and celebrates the talents of local artisans who shape the area today. The installations contribute a vibrant public social space fostering community engagement and interaction to connect the present-day community with the hidden world of Roman life beneath their very feet. The narrative is centred around a female character, Cassia, and the audience journey is explained through artefacts from her home. Shifting the typical lens of historical spaces predominantly presented from a patriarchal viewpoint, this project weaves a tapestry of stories from a woman's perspective across past and present. It invites the local community and tourists to join Cassia in the appreciation of history reborn.
