About

Hey, this is Rey (Rahil)! A keen eye for details! It all started with playing with cameras, writing stories and making lots of PowerPoints as a kid :D Then evolved into developing websites, audio-visual designs, and even 3D worlds. Much of my inspiration comes from my long walks and talks with people!

Deserted Stories is an immersive 3D interactive experience designed to explore Oman’s 20th-century history through space exploration and AI-driven character interactions. It sets out to address the lack of immersive, culturally grounded digital experiences representing Middle Eastern narratives—specifically Oman’s rich yet often overlooked history. Initially planned for a VR CAVE setup, the project pivoted to the Bridge LED immersive space, enabling shared multi-user interaction via a large screen, navigation systems, and spatial audio. Blending elements of games and digital exhibitions, the experience invites users to explore historical environments and engage with conversational AI characters in real time, aiming to enhance both emotional resonance and educational impact. The result is a publicly accessible, interactive exhibition piece that could be deployed in museums or cultural institutions, demonstrating how large-scale, shared immersive environments can support deeper engagement and cultural empathy compared to isolated VR systems. Later, for the degree show, the experience was adapted for a vertical TV monitor, proving effective in a busy exhibition space and highlighting its adaptability across both large-scale and compact setups.
