A highly professional and dedicated final year fashion and marketing student. The impact of the design industry fascinates me, along with the relationship between products and social identity. As a design student, I am continuously discovering new knowledge, techniques and life-long skills. I am very interested in pursuing a career within digital marketing, graphic design, or textiles/print.
Femme Flex period-proof activewear
My project surrounds the concept of period-proof activewear with a purpose of reducing the stigma commonly attached to menstruation. Activewear can mean many things to consumers but ultimately it is essential that items feel comfortable and protective. Often, menstruating consumers feel uncomfortable on their period when wearing activewear whether they’re running errands, at a yoga class or in the gym. By adding the feature of a period-proof gusset to these garments, audiences state they have an ease of mind, and feel a sense of freedom. Within this project I investigated the use of various materials experimenting with recycled, absorbent, and biodegradable options including econyl; recycled nylon created using up-cycled fish nets. Econyl connects with my brands sustainability ethos as well as my chosen print/colour story: the vibrancy of life under water. I wanted to create a dynamic collection with lively prints you rarely see in sportswear.
