About
Based in London and a recent graduate from University of the Arts London with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Animation Arts, Chloe Loren Chan is an interdisciplinary artist and animator with a background in fine art. Her passion for traditional art heavily influences her distinct animation style where she often can be seen playing around with textures, grains and brushstrokes. She enjoys creating experimental work that bridges the gap between digital and traditional media, as well as bringing in 3d elements into her 2d hand-drawn work.
"Fishing" is an abstract exploration of wonder, growth, meaning, spirituality, and an animated attempt to make sense of the absurdities of the cycle of life. Inspired by the concept of reincarnation, the karmic cycle is the central theme, portrayed in a spiritual sense where "nature always balances itself out”. This looping cycle of life, presented in the act of fishing, proposes the idea that everything is all interconnected and what we put out into the world will always be reflected back to us in this lifetime or another.
