About

Amalie Hette has completed a bachelor in Textile-Body-Space at HDK Valand. Her practice revolves around exploring materials, fibers and colours through a weaving practice. Through writing and paper making, she finds similarities between the structures of our language and the structures found in the patterns of the weave.

The landscapes made me see the vastness, I had to re-see it again and again I could forget as the ground cleared itself And made traces disappear They would whisper Even as everything had fallen silent In their expansion, expansion, expansion Until I no longer could see We are the collectors. In the work Formation of Landscapes, Amalie Hette weaves her way through the landscape she finds herself in. All it encompasses of materials, observations, and perspectives. Through this process, she finds herself working in the same way a landscape does: collecting, shaping, eroding and transforming materials over time. The process of collecting has become more and more important throughout her work. The collection of materials, techniques, observations, words and ideas. Weaving, writing and the study of colour intertwine, forming the repertoire of landscapes. The ideas and observations emerge by being in the landscape, and listening to its languages. Collecting impressions and colors give way to weaving and combining the materials. The thread and different weaving techniques are words to be written. It brings her a repertoire, a book of different chapters. They are all made by traces the landscapes leave behind- it’s materials, impressions, patterns, colors. Being collected. Transformed.
