About
My name is Phoebe Sun and I am a graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fashion Design and a minor in Fibers. My work concentrates on designing for markets including womenswear, childrenswear and genderless clothing with a focus on implementing experimental and traditional textile craft such as felting and weaving.
Fruits of Love captures the essence of romantic love through the eyes of someone who has never experienced it before through the concept of 'guanxi' in Chinese culture. 'guanxi' is the link between people maintained with the tradition of fruit gifting. Five fruits; apples, mandarins, pomelos, peaches and pomegranates, each symbolizing different aspect of love inspired my designs. The ripening of fruits and consequently the change of love and relationships over time is shown through combining voluminous wet-felted forms, thermochromic fabrics, and connecting elements.
