Katy Hansell is a Womenswear Graduate who specialises in Print Design. Luxe textiles meet trend and travels through a vibrant range of complimentary prints. Garments in the collections are multi-way and interchangeable, making the looks as unique as the wearer in them. Throughout my final year I have designed for an inclusive customer base. often playing with the boundaries of creativity and commerciality- making bold patterns accessible and wearable. Metallic accents are used in printdesigns to give the appearance of embellishment as a more sustainableprocess; counteracting the negative impact that travel has on the environment. the printed pieces are interchangeable across the collection,creating a range of looks in just one outfit- encouraging investment buying that can be worn multiple ways- for the many occasions we have now to dress up for.
Honeymoon is a romantic holiday print collection for Summer 23, in response to the post pandemic attitude of going out more, travelling more and how we are now determined to see the world in our own time. Inspired by foreign travels, Honeymoon bliss, love and loss. The collection embodies the possibilities of embracing life, inspired by my Mum, a widowed single parent who has shown me to put happiness over heartache. You’re not too young or old to make the most of life. Honeymoon isn’t a phase, it’s an attitude; a way of living. Goddess like garments will be adorned with print rather than heavy beading to give a representation of embellishment with an everyday wearability; designed to fit changing trends and last a lifetime- just like the memories made in the clothes.
