About

Colour creates feeling. From energising vibrant hues to soft, soothing tones, colour has the power to shape our mood, create atmosphere, add personality, and improve wellbeing. Intertwining this with narrative-driven design, I approach each project with an open mind, drawing inspiration from history, culture, client experiences, tradition, and trends, and using this to inform every aspect of the design process. Weaving together colours, textures, and design elements to create functional spaces that tell meaningful stories. I strive to create spaces that foster a sense of empowerment and belonging in the hope of enhancing people’s lives and improving the user experience. With a blend of creativity, empathy, and technical skills, I am excited to learn more within the interior design sector and look forward to any opportunities that may come my way.

70% of Black women feel let down by high-street beauty retailers and salons so I envisioned Kiki. Kiki is a hairdressing and training facility based in Manchester City Centre that aims to empower the 200,000 people of colour within Manchester with curls, coils, and kinks - trying to revolutionise the black hair experience. Particularly pointed towards the 4+ curl type, often associated with the African community that receives the most hair discrimination and lacks understanding and education regarding its unique needs. Inspired by Nigeria’s Yoruba people, who have strong spiritual ties to hair. Believing everyone has an Orisha inside their head, which links to their personality, and so their hair is spiritual too. Oshun, an Orisha (a goddess), has significant links to hair since she is the first Orisha to use a comb. She is associated with hairdressing, water, self-love and the colour yellow. The materials used throughout the space look to African craftsmanship and materials historically used on the continent.
