About

I use the symbolism, traditions and meanings behind jewellery and tableware to talk about societal structures, values, status, natural resources and the role of the environment in our lives and how we shape the world.

Kuolinpesä is the finnish word for an estate; the assets and debts one leaves behind when they die. Some objects are considered heirlooms, passed on within families. They carry memories and preserve customs and traditions. Others end up in landfill before they are ever used. They tell a different story; one of futile abundance and negligence. Our inheritance is not only artefacts and assets, it is also the values we have, the customs and ways of life. The effects of all these build up over generations and shape the world we leave behind.
