Amanda Gabriella Handojo is a textile artist and researcher, and the founder of am.gabrie, a textile studio exploring sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation within fashion and textiles. Her practice weaves traditional craftsmanship with future-thinking materials and methods, driven by a deep sensitivity toward nature and curiosity for the evolving role of textiles in a more conscious industry.
Life from the Loom
Life from the Loom begins with fabric and expands into a world of material storytelling. Rooted in the dialogue between nature and human, it explores decay, care, and nature reclamation through biodegradable textiles crafted with embroidery, natural dyes, and bioplastics. Inspired by Yogyakarta’s Candi Sewu, the work translates the quiet persistence of nature and human craftsmanship into layered textures and living surfaces. What starts as textile research takes form in many ways: a garment, collaborative shoes, perfume, and accessories. With each outcome translating different language of the same message; a celebration of nature, craft, care, and materiality that can be experienced, worn, and remembered beyond the fabric itself. More than a collection, it is an invitation to rethink textiles as living companions, objects of care designed to be cherished, repaired, and gently returned to the earth.
