About
My name is Dominic Godina and I am a knitwear designer. I was drawn to knitwear due to the endless possibilities and creativity.
Memory of the Waters, my BFA thesis collection was born on my many morning walks to the Japanese tea garden here in San Francisco. Memory of the Waters is the feeling that nurtures you when connecting with nature. Moss, willow trees, vines, seaweed, abalone shells and the ocean were the forefront of my inspiration when creating my designs. In each look there are repetitions of patterns and textures to highlight nature's fascinating fractal structure. Growing up in Hesperia, California, I was only surrounded by the desert. Moving to San Francisco, I connected with green and blue nature in a way I never have before and felt inspired to translate that through my collection. Memory of the Waters takes you from the flourishing green world of plants and trees and transitions into the calming blue world of the ocean.
