About
My name is Laya Billon, from Paris, France. I have just finished my bachelor's degree at La Cambre school in Fashion. This year I designed a collection of eighteen menswear garments, named "Métaphysique des Tubes". It was an opportunity for me to develop new cutting and finishing systems, which I would like to continue pursuing in my professional projects in the future.
Looking at the work of the artist Kilian Rüthemann, I adapted the sculptor's shapes and creative process to the body. The tubes became volumes in attitude to highlight the archetype of the pieces. It started with big rectangles, using both 2D and 3D techniques, and then tubes. Using a stiff fabric or a fine jersey, I wrapped the body in tubes.
