About
My name is Eliška Chromčáková. I am 25 years old creator based in the Czech Republic. I graduated MA studies of Fashion Design at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen this year. I am interested in fashion design in general but mainly I am keen to work with leather. I enjoy improving myself in craft and learning new techniques and skills.
Main inspiration for my diploma project was taken from nature and it's overwhelming and extraordinary shapes, particularly of tree bark, rocks and plants. The collection aims to be design and functional as well. It should also represent first collection of my own brand specialized on leather accessories. Only vegetable tanned leather was used. It means during the tanning process only natural tannins are used to color the leather. Accessories are in orange color considering fashion trends Resort and SS 2023 where orange is repetitive. Vegetable tanned leather is great due to it´s qualities as a possibility to shape leather by wet molding technique which I used in this project. As an accentuation of craft, hand knitted pieces were created. Based on dissatisfaction with market offer, I´ve decided to design and create my own components. Shoe sole with biomorphic design was 3D modeled and printed on a 3D printer in home conditions together with a form for wet molding. All the accessories were handstitched and crafted striving for perfection. The collection should evoke respect for material and it´s origin and willingness to appreciate the value of the product.
