My name is Tomoki Nomura.Born and raised in Japan, I have lived and worked around the world since the age of 13. My peripatetic background heavily influences my design process and enables me to find unique perspectives and approaches. By combining my wide and deep understanding of cultural variances with my technical skills, I create forward-thinking designs that appeal to a global market.As a designer, I emphasize quality and refinement in my work. I strive to create products that enrich the ambiance of the spaces they occupy. Obi is a collection of residential furniture pieces created with the objective of continuing cultural fusion. The sofa, coffee table, and bench are a combination of Eastern and Western design elements, lifestyles, and philosophies. The belts that secure the upholstery are a key design element. My goal with this collection was to evoke feelings of comfort and familiarity in people of various cultural backgrounds. I also hope to continue cross-cultural conversations in design and foster a broader sensibility in customers.
