I am a woven textile designer with a keen interest in exploring the relationship between colour and structure, producing woven outcomes that investigate how key design tools interact and change one another. My practice is deeply rooted in experimentation, particularly on the loom, Yarn choice and finishing are a vital part to my work.Much of my inspiration is drawn from modernist design movements, from structure in brutalist architecture to colour theory in fine art, i'm fascinated by repetition and rhythm and how fabric can change with a tiny shift in material choice. Through my weaving, I explore the fine line between control and chaos. Ordered structure and blocks can perhaps be entirely changed by a neon stripe or some brushed mohair. Bruno Munari described 'the kingdom' of modern colour as being 'governed by total chaos', in my design choices i chose to interpret that idea as an undeniable positive.My final output aims to challenge a conventional interior aesthetic. I think tactile, experimental materials for interiors is the key to heightened wellbeing and designing for good. Whilst weaving is core to my practice, I also take great interest in a multitude of design disciplines, and i'm open to exploring new methods of working and collaborations that push my understanding of design.
