About
Sandra Mitrea is a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator working mainly with photography, collage and 3D softwares. Born in Cluj Napoca, Romania, she graduated from UAL London College of Fashion where she studied Fashion Imaging and Illustration.
As a woman with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), I have experienced firsthand the physical, emotional, and psychological toll this condition can take. PCOS is a hormonal disorder that affects up to 10% of women of reproductive age. It is characterized by a range of symptoms, including irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, acne, weight gain, and excessive hair growth. Despite its prevalence, PCOS is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, leaving many women to suffer in silence. In response, I have created an art project that focuses on my journey with PCOS. My art project uses a combination of images, photos, and scans to highlight the different symptoms and experiences associated with PCOS. Through this project, I aim to communicate PCOS's physical and emotional effects and spread awareness and comfort to my fellow people.
