About

Salome Maarek is a multidisciplinary designer that works with textile, ceramic and glass materials. She was born in Paris, France. She studied Fashion, Textile, Materials and Surfaces design at the Duperre school, in Paris. Then, she moved to Israel in 2019. She started at the same time the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. She decided to choose the Ceramics and Glass department to continue her studies. She is working with a geologist and chemicals in material research. She also developed a new material: a matter that is colored with natural pigments from different regions of Israel. She was exhibited at the Dutch Design week 2022, Surface Design Show 2023, Ambiente Show and Material District Fair.   Her magic-words are local, environment and sustainability.

The Pere Preciuse project is an innovative fashion and jewelry venture that incorporates the use of “From Stone to Glass,” a groundbreaking glass coloring technique. Unlike traditional methods, which are highly toxic and environmentally unsustainable, “From Stone to Glass” offers a sustainable alternative. The project aims to provide a similar aesthetic outcome to the classical approach, but with the use of eco-friendly materials. The locally-sourced glass is derived from common stones found in Israel. This recyclable glass employs natural mineral colors without any chemical additives. Shaping, sharpening, cutting, or drilling this glass offers a sustainable alternative to conventional glass manufacturing. The colorant's versatility positions it as a potential substitute for gemstones, catering to the high-end jewelry sector on a significant scale.
