About

I’m Persia Duncan, a Canadian designer based in Copenhagen. I work with furniture, objects, and materials, exploring playful and thoughtful ways of reimagining everyday things. A lot of my projects focus on sustainability, tactility, like rethinking foam in upholstered seating or creating lighting and homeware that mix function with visual details and character. At the heart of my work is a curiosity about how materials, forms, and stories shape daily life, and I carry that approach into everything from collaborations and exhibitions to my own independent projects.

Reform: Upholstery Beyond Foam

Reform presents an invisible revolution in how we build comfort into sofas. Instead of relying on polyurethane foam - made from fossil fuels and nearly impossible to recycle once glued - the design uses sheets of recycled textiles and metal coils, assembled without adhesives, and is finished with a removable slipcover. This modular system, developed with Haack Recycling, combines Haack’s panels made from recycled textile materials with a spring and webbing based structure that can be fully disassembled and repaired. Prioritizing comfort, disassembly, and thoughtful construction, Reform offers a responsible approach to upholstery that is both sustainable and scalable through accessible supply chains and processes like CNC milling.
