“It’s not feminine that you’ve tanned too much and your body has grown too big since you started playing sports.” — Mom Rooted in the traditional Asian culture, I was deeply influenced by such feminine expectations. There, this project is a soft rebellion for contemporary women, who are looking for fashion that embrace both sporty and girly sides of us. The collection began with the manipulation of textures and fabric weights inspired by unconventional sports gear and sunburnt skin. It reveals a inner dialogue through knitted textiles and knitwear, specifically having subversive juxtaposition of textures and patterns, such as skin-toned plush layered with graphical ripples, padded pockets against delicate pointelle lace. Creating a rich tactile language that challenges conventional beauty norms. A diverse mix of materials also highlights the textural richness throughout the pieces. The project explores the duality of softness and athleticism. The blend of girly and sporty aesthetics is emphasized through silhouette. Each look is inspired by the distinct physique and player jersey associated with different sports: basketball, cricket, tennis, and butterfly swimming. This project enters Tex+2025 under Commercial & Market potential.
