What happens to a museum when what it holds is returned? The Afterlife of Walls is not an exhibition design but a conversation, an instrument for refusal, memory, and presence. Within the existing walls of the British Museum, layers accumulate like a palimpsest, and scars are kept visible. Labels remain as wounds, pointing to what cannot return. Rooms shift from galleries into circles for weaving, storytelling, and sound, suggested as possibilities drawn from living traditions but open to countless other practices. This project rejects extractive precision; there are no plans, no sections, and no final form. It unfolds as a book you can walk through, a spatial manifesto of refusal and repair. Both architecture and protest, it insists on opacity, care, and unfinished futures. The full thesis book can be read here: digitalcommons.risd.edu/masterstheses/1424
