Threads of Silence: Unmasking the Echoes

Every year, 66,000 women are violently killed globally. This number weaves a thread of silence, intricately intertwined in the fabric of our world, a tapestry of indifference formed through habituation. Within our collective silence, these threads remain concealed, their intricacies hidden. Yet now, it's imperative to unravel the familiarity and confront the vanished. This collection delves into the stories of women who have disappeared into the abyss of domestic violence and abuse, their narratives muffled by the resounding echoes of a society that, at times, turns a blind eye. Bringing forth the silent stories of women oppressed by the forces of gender and ignorance, these designs strive to reveal the physical and emotional suppression they endure and the metaphorical masks they bear. Embedded within the intricate web of power, some threads choose to bind, while others veil the truth. For those suffering in silence, the aim is to amplify their voices through the medium of fashion. This collection endeavors to expose the weight of their oppression, their emotional instability, and the multitude of hidden stories. Using various chains and fabric manipulation, the designs articulate their struggle, and like the threads, the masks represent their silent presence. Although diverse, this chain collection shares a commonality, highlighting the somewhat grotesque hybrid and heterogeneous nature of our world, and proclaiming with resilience: "WE’RE HERE."
