About

I use my practice as a way of recording my time, place and journey, using personal experiences, data, maps and photos from my present environment and surroundings, translating them into procedural and intuitive works in various visual forms, including hand-woven weavings, paintings, prints, drawings and installations. My practice has been largely influenced by the weaving medium and its relationship with binary. My research has led me to use binary and hex code from ASCII to generate works, colour palettes and use alternate binary systems in my work. My other influences are mostly from my interest in colour, figures and the process of making. Working in the weaving medium for a few years has constantly reminded me of the time consuming labour. This recently led me to focus on time and duration.

Time 2021 - 2023

Works made between my 3rd and 4th year, where the housing crisis and COP26 led me to build a series reflecting my time till my graduating year. Works includes - - Handwoven tapestry of the map of Glasgow, showing all the sold out student accommodations and unsuccessful spare rooms - Abstract weaving of my pending car route from Nottingham to Glasgow, with the coded translation of the ev charging point postcodes, where we have to charge the car - Jacquard weaving of the floor plan of my studio and bedroom overlapped - Different visual translations of zoom links including embossment prints, weavings, colours and LED installation - Handwoven tapestry of the register of my graduating class, with all the names translated into binary and hex to generate the corresponding colour palette
