Fashion Work
Transmute in Despair is a collection about Athleisure which is inspired by my street photography and my interest in Korean pop and anime. Weather proof but make it Fashion. My great interest in street photography around London has led me to design corresponding clothing. The random bin bags on the street, the skip in the neighbours’ front garden, the building development in central London and just a random corner with over grown plants always get me mesmerised. As a street photographer and a designer, I have looked at oversized and comfortable shapes that fit a street aesthetic; something very earthy but gloomy like the London’s weather. Workwear is very performative and is made for function, with temperature control fabric, water proof material, and reflective tape. I have taken elements from workwear and putting them together with Korean pop elements to give workwear a bit more life and appeal. I have used technical fabrics which are water proof to add the workwear element and I will be using reflective fabric to add a bit of life to my garment. Korean pop and Anime has always inspired me, with the type of music, makeup, fashion, and the styling. K-pop fashion, which can be worn on stage while delivering very intense performances, has inspired me to develop garments which are aesthetically pleasing and functional at the same time. Anime and Manga always has detailed designed clothing in movement, which had introduced new shapes to me.
