My ISTD accredited book: Tweed, In Detail explores the history and techniques used to make tweed. It highlights the striking, graphic potential for the detailed and intricate weaving techniques. Each thread comes together to reveal iconic patterns in an often forgotten fabric. The first part of the book is a black and white heritage chapter discussing how tweed is made. The second, is a bright and colourful contrast showing the modern, graphic potential for the patterns within such an amazing fabric. There are woven pages to create connection to the weaving process and windows highlighting the smallest possible repeat of each pattern, turning them into symbols and icons. The book is bound in tweed as a final connection to the fibre process that the paper pages within discuss.to allow for a reminder that paper cannot tell the full story of tweed.
