About

Amy is a multi-disciplinary designer who focuses on print / embroidery and has a unique illustrative style that evolves around storytelling and education. She has empathy for biodiversity and is inspired by the creatures and nature that lives among us.

As a designer Amy has empathy for biodiversity and is inspired by the creatures that live among us. ‘Anteatering Around’ is a collection of illustrative, multi contextual pieces. They explore the personality and lives of Giant and Lesser Anteaters along with their habitats and threats. They encourage conversation, create interest and encourage education surrounding the declining species and habitat. This collection is in response to the intensification of our climate crisis and consumer demands of clean, sustainable products. People are also losing their connection with nature and the importance surrounding it. The collection has been carefully considered to encourage these aspects, using clean as possible methods, 100% clean materials, no dyes and include educational aspects. Through these means it meets both goal 13 (climate action) and 14 (life on land) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Amy is a multi-disciplinary designer with a unique illustrative style that evolves around storytelling. She has used a variety of hand techniques. Fabric and paper collage has been combined to create detailed, characterful motifs. Hand embroidery has been added for texture and screen printing has been applied to translate her sketchy digital mark making. 100% naturally dyed and undyed fabric and yarn has also been used, demonstrating to consumers what colours nature can produce. The materials and colours are also gender-neutral, which are not trend specific meaning the designs can be enjoyed year-round by everyone. ‘Anteatering Around’ is a multi-contextual collection, designed for both adults and kids allowing for close bonding and conversations. This specific collection contains artwork, fabric, toys and a reference book which are all for the home. Ultimately this project will be part of a bigger Amazon Rainforest collection where each animal, insect and bird is celebrated in the same manner.
