About

Cambria Sinclair is a womenswear designer who specializes in knitwear, knit and woven textiles, and print design. She is fascinated with aesthetics of the macabre, psychological fashion, and dark romance. She is often inspired by her own intimate emotional experiences and thoughts, which translate into rich textiles. Cambria cares a lot about the emotional connection we have with garments and aims to convey that within each piece she makes.

The Rebirth of Venus is a women's knitwear fashion and textile collection. The collection narrates the designers' experience of societal expectations of being the "perfect woman". It is an act of vulnerability, agency, and rebellion against the gaze of others. The designer appropriates her own body and emotions to reclaim her feminine existence.

Self 2.0 and Skin and Bones are sibling woven collections. They stand on their own and also serve to compliment one another. The two collections present narratives that link together and showcase a complete story. A restricted color scheme of black, white, and fleshy neutrals were used to highlight innovative textures. Synthetic materials compliment natural protein and cellulose yarns in order to illustrate the relationship between the natural and artificial body. Self 2.0 is inspired by ideas of perfect, commercial outward beauty that society presents to women. The collection visualizes textures present in cosmetics, as well as the idealized beauty standards for women’s bodies and skin. Skin and Bones celebrates the raw beauty found in women’s natural bodies. Textures are explored from a deeper, cellular and microscopic level.
