About

Ciara Williams is a 3D illustrator and animator based in Strasbourg. Working primarily in Blender, she creates tactile, atmospheric worlds that blend digital animation with handmade materials like ceramics and sculpture. Her practice draws on influences from folklore, music, and film, reimagining classic narratives through stylised character design and immersive environments.

Her work explores the space between physical and digital — combining tools like Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, and Procreate to build stories that move, breathe, and invite curiosity. Whether sculpting by hand or animating in 3D, she’s driven by a love of storytelling and a constant urge to experiment, challenge herself, and push the boundaries of the medium.

Raven’s Echo is a self-initiated, 4-minute gothic 3D animated short exploring themes of duality and identity. The story follows Raven, a solitary figure drawn toward a haunting, silent counterpart. As their connection deepens, boundaries blur, leading to a quiet transformation that leaves oneself free… and the other trapped. A whisper becomes a woman. A woman becomes a ghost. Never truly her. Never truly gone. Inspired by Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the film uses stylised character design, dramatic lighting, and symbolic environments to externalise inner conflict. Developed entirely in Blender over five months, all stages—modelling, rigging, UV mapping, animation, editing, sound, and post-production—were handled independently. Its clay-inspired, tactile aesthetic grounds the surreal tone. As a nod to handmade processes, the opening scene features a 3D-scanned ceramic house I sculpted, integrating physical textures into digital space. This detail reflects my ongoing interest in bridging tangible materials with digital media. Raven’s Echo allowed me to deepen both technical and creative skills across the full 3D animation pipeline. It represents my personal storytelling voice as well as my ability to direct and produce independent animated work.
