Having an art practice legitimises my foraging (read hoarding) habit. I make sculptures from things I find or an am given, as a provocation to the practice. I once made a work from a donated deli meat slicer! A multidisciplinary artist, I am led by the item in discovering the direction of the work. Recently, I have completed a residency with the Leicester Hospitals Trust, where I explored the liminal spaces occupied by patients and staff and absorbed the atmosphere of the buildings. The resulting body of work from this experience, was made from scavenged materials found in hospital's recycling compound. Working with my recycled materials, I layer narrative, making 3D sculptural forms. I explore a lived experience as a double cancer survivor, mother, grandmother and daughter, who it has to be said, is still fascinated by playing with Barbie dolls. I gained a First Class BA (Hons) from NTU in 2023, where I am currently nearing the end of my MFA studies. I am a member of Two Queens Gallery in Leicester and elected member of Leicester Society of Artists. I would welcome opportunities to apply for further residencies and if you have a object of you would like to share with me as a provocation, please reach out.
