I am interested in an interconnected perspective on earth, landscape, nature and cultural systems. I believe that every fragment is equally important and has to be valued as such in order to create successful architecture.
My work spans from artisan based interior design focusing on cultural heritage to social landscapes of equality and sustainable living and building practices.
The Siwa Oasis sits on top of the Nubian aquifer in the Sahara desert in Egypt. Fossil water from an ancient sea is pumped up for agriculture. The excess water that can’t seep down fast enough become excess water manifested in rising ground water. Ground water so high that it dissolves the traditional salt and mud houses. The project transforms a traditional family mud house into a women's house, Aqbin L’Teltiween. The project is based on the social syntax of the oasis where women move quietly, through the in-between spaces and cracks of the city, while a rich social life unfolds behind closed façades.
