Course / Program Title: jEWELRY ART ba PROGRAM
My name is Fanny Storm and I recently finished my BA program at HDK-Valand Gothenburg in Sweden, specialization jewelry art. In my creative process I'm usually drawn to themes with darker nature. My artistic practice explores material symbolism and wearable sculptures. I have a passion for recycled material in my creative process, which I believe is vital for jewelry making in this day and age.My practice is deeply research-based and conceptually driven. My graduation project ("Att bära döden"/"To bear death") had its roots with historical and cultural references, such as Egyptian sarcophagi and Swedish cemetery rituals, and translating them into contemporary jewelry pieces. https://vimeo.com/1114506760
Funerary art through my eyes, created with charged materials. Altar flowers from the church, cedarwood scented with history, donated skeletons bearing witness to life. Materials and forms inspired by the symbols we associate with those we love and have lost too soon. My work draws from both personal and cultural narratives, where inspirations from Egyptian funerary art and Swedish cemeteries meet. The necklace's form rests close to the heart, a circle between life and death. Through the union of organic material and metal, I seek to embody a quiet story of grief and transformation. An object to be worn or to keep vigil over a grave. https://vimeo.com/1114506760
