I am a sustainable fashion designer with a focus on blending masculine and feminine elements to create innovative designs. My practice explores unconventional materials and techniques to challenge traditional ideas in fashion. For my Final Major Project, I developed a unique fabric by stitching together second hand bike inner tubes, transforming industrial waste into wearable art. This process reflects my commitment to circular design and material experimentation, as well as my belief that sustainability and creativity go hand in hand.
'Married Into Motorsport' explores my personal experience of having a family which is heavily involved in motorsport. Having been bought up in this environment I have become increasingly aware of the under representation of women within this male dominated industry. My sustainable collection aims to highlight and challenge the traditional stereotypes associated with motorsport by celebrating the strength of women in sport by mixing unexpected fabric types such as my developed inner tube fabric and silhouettes. I drew inspiration from the contrast between hyper masculine aesthetics of motorsport and delicate, powerful femininity represented by marriage, a union that represents a combination of both genders.
