Isabelle is an ambitious award winning textile designer with a strong eye and interest in colour, pattern and scale. Sustainability has always been at the forefront of Isabelle's collections, from her use of materials to the longevity of the final product.
Influenced by the Italian inspired village in Wales, Portmeirion, I initially collected visual imagery of the colourful graphic architecture located in the beautiful natural location. Through my initial inspiration I selected key shapes from my images which helped develop my final woven samples. My collection explores the concept of enhancing interior spaces through the use of sustainable materials which I was able to achieve after winning the DMU Roadly award. In order to emulate my vivid colour palette, I set myself the challenge of dyeing all my sustainable warp and weft yarns, resulting in a colour cohesive collection. My collection explores graphic shapes, colours and scales which I was able to recreate through my final woven samples. I was able to further challenge myself by using different warp set ups which allowed me to create a range of different but cohesive samples.
